Description
This artifact is an extremely interesting example of a Chinese silk ornamental table cover custom made for the Flying Tigers! This silk ornamental was property of then-Colonel John K. Hester who was a fighter pilot and Squadron Commander with the famous 14th Air Force, "The Flying Tigers," in the CBI Theater and also an accomplished post-war General Officer in the US Air Force. This souvenir table cover was brought home by General Hester and is being offered on behalf of his family. Straight out of the estate and never resident in a collection!
The item does have some traces of adhesive residue around the edges due to improper framing but is fantastic condition considering both age, material of construction, and intercontinental travel. Silk on silk with fabulous needlework indicative of the Chinese workmanship from this period. There are no tears, major stains, or holes in this item. This would look fantastic in a frame along with your other aviation memorabilia!
The dimensions are 32in x 32in with the tassels fully extended.
