THIS FITS MANY AIR COOLED VW APPLICATIONS AND AFTERMARKET EXHAUST HEADERS WITH HEAT RISERS
ON A STOCK CARBURETOR INTAKE MANIFOLD, THERE ARE TWO DOWNPIPES THAT CONNECT THE INTAKE MANIFOLD CENTER TO THE EXHAUST SYSTEM
THIS CONNECTION IS USED TO PRE-HEAT THE INTAKE SLIGHTLY, FOR COLD CLIMATES, WHERE THE SINGLE CARBURETOR WOULD " ICE " UP DUE TO COLD TEMPERATURES  ( see 2nd photo for riser example )
WHEN USING DUAL CARBURATORS, THIS PREHEAT ISN'T NECESSARY AS THE CARBS ARE CLOSER TO THE CYLINDER HEADS AND RECEIVE RISING HEAT UP THE MANIFOLDS FOR  PREHEATING
