Standard Oil of New Jersey
Standard Oil of New Jersey formed in 1911 upon the breakup of Standard Oil. Although Socony (Standard Oil of New York) owned the rights to marketing in the New England States, the company allowed Standard Oil of New Jersey to market its products there under the name Esso (which stands for the S and O of Standard Oil).
Use of the Esso trademark was restricted in the United States, so Standard Oil of New Jersey (Jersey Standard) hired renowned industrial designer Raymond Loewy (1893-1986) to create a new name and logo for the brand.
In many states, Jersey Standard marketed its products under the brand ‘Esso’, which is the phonetic pronunciation of the initials ‘S’ and ‘O’ in Standard Oil. However in other states, the other Standard Oil companies objected. In those states, Jersey Standard marketed under the brands Enco (Energy Company) and Humble (an oil company they acquired). Jersey Standard became Exxon Corporation in 1972 and in 1999 joined with Mobil Oil Corporation, formerly Socony-Vacuum Oil, to form Exxon Mobil Corporation.

Many items are from our parent's estate and therefore are vintage or our grown children left behinds, expectations should include imperfections due to age or use, but I try diligently to describe anything that seems noteworthy. Some are current estate sale finds.  Most things will be in AS_IS condition, one should realize that older or pre-owned items should not be considered like new items.
I am NOT
a business, but just dispersing mostly family estate items, I am not online all the time. Usually questions on weekdays will be answered in the evenings, understand that I am not ignoring your questions. Be advised that I will lightly dust or wipe down items that need dusting, but any real cleaning will usually be left to the discretion of the winning bidder. Grading conditions are subjective. You should be your own judge when deciding the condition of listed items. If in doubt request additional photos, & ask questions concerning the item before bidding or buying. Returns only if item not as described in the description.
