Antique Chinese Wooden Grain/Rice Measure
Curved-Handled Bucket w Metal braces & stitches.
Vintage Chinese GRAIN/RICE MEASURE WOODEN BUCKET
Large antique, singlehandled grain measure from China, 1880's-1930's.  Rustic container used for measuring a specificamount of grain allotted to each person or family. Features iron bindings and lashed metal seams on splits and edges.  Made from dark wood, metal also lines the handle.
These were also carried by Chinese farm workers who had a long pole across their shoulders with one of these buckets hanging on each end of the pole. They were used when harvesting grain, rice or other crops.
In excellent condition with period wear and patina, consistent with age and use but no serious damage.
