    Vehicle Details
Hello and thank you for your interest. I bought this 1986 Mazda RX-7 GXL in Pittsburgh with 52,000 miles in 2010 and have had the pleasure of driving and owning it since. I am the third owner. The second owner bought it for a son who is in the military and ended up never driving it and instead took a job overseas. He installed silicon vacuum hoses. The original owner ordered it from the factory with specific options and put on the initial mileage. I’ve had other RX7s’ before I bought this one and I knew that this one was special when I got it.
This is the example of a well kept FC RX-7. Originally the classic white with black trim, it was repainted less than a year ago in a 3 stage rose multi-color pearl that really pops.
The car’s engine was rebuilt with OEM Mazda Apex and soft seals in September 2015 and now has 27,000 miles. There are cheaper options but Mazda oem seals are the best. I have all the paperwork that will come with the car from the rebuild.
Standard internal relatability mods included FD solid corner seals and springs and the Atkins thermal pellet.
Starts up first try every time and idles, accelerates and cruses like new. Makes incredible sounds and gets a lot of attention. The car has made three trips from Nevada to Tennessee in the past three years.
Extremely reliable with a solid drivetrain-Meticulously maintained and left unmodified. Garage kept and not dried up-the electrical system is not brittle or weathered and the interior has kept its burgundy. Dash was never taken apart, the engine has all the clips and parts.
OEM mufflers with chrome tips that I should have polished up before taking pics, and clutch replaced when the engine was rebuilt.
Engine was rebuilt because a water jacket in the center irons broke. Replaced with a T2 center. (Video on my YouTube channel.)
The only 2 aftermarket parts on the car are the pacesetter exhaust header and short shifter kit.
    Transmission shifts perfect.
    Oem spec. Koyo Radiator
Very clean interior, stock stereo, no smoke or smells.
The multi-color pearl has an iridescent effect that during the day is off-white (the stick oem color) and at sunrise sunset and under artificial light gets much more pink. It is an 8 sided muti color pearl with rose hues.
No dents or scratches, no accidents. Perfect bodywork.
The GXL is the highest trim level and has auto adjusting suspension with normal and sport modes as well as passive suspension control which still works.
The drivers seat has lumbar and tilt.
    Extra plush carpet.
    Power steering.
Bridgestone blizzak snow tires on with less than 500 mi. And yes it is a blast in the snow.
The AC worked when I charged it last year but only lasted for a few months. Aka “Needs Charged” but there must be a small leak somewhere. I have a spare AC compressor for it.
Installed a switch to operate the parking lights as the dash switch started acting up. Lights work fine now.
Drivers window switch is broken so I installed a workaround and the driver side mirror is cracked. I cracked it reinstalling after the paint job.
The front flash to pass lenses are not installed and a Power antenna replacement, along with the side trim pieces and a few other parts come with it.
Has the drop in K&N air filter.
Very dark tinted windows and hatch glass.
5th (full size) matching rim with tire
    Spare transmission (na s5)
Drive it home Friday evening, across the country if you want!
    Exterior
The multicolor pearl goes from rose hues like pink and purple at night to what was the oem color noble white. These magical paint jobs are done by first spraying the base color, then putting the 8-sided pearl in a clear base coat, then putting a clearcoat on top of that which represent the 3-stages and gives it the color change effect. The next step would be to cut and buff, but it looks so good that I just haven’t wanted to mess with it.
    Interior
Check it out. There is a negligible tear in the back carpet you can see but it’s fresh. The fibers still shine.
    Engine
Has never broke down or not started. For several years this was the only car I owned. The tag on the door says August 1985, it’s one of the first FCs’ manufactured and has the IMSA/GTU manufactures championship 1985 sticker from the factory on the back window.
