SPECTACULARLY GORGEOUS!
Of all the Tolkien calendars ever to be printed, the ones from 1976. 1977 and 1978, illustrated by The Brothers Hildebrandt are still the ones highest in demand!
Could it be because they "defined" the art of the Tolkien Calendar?
Could it be because nobody yet has been able to capture Tolkien's words in images like these two?
Or could it possibly be because the artwork is so spectacularly gorgeous that even 25 years after they were printed collector will do almost anything to get hold of one of the few copies printed?

The fourteen original paintings by the Hildebrandt twins reproduced in this calendar were inspired by The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit, by J.R.R. Tolkien and includes full Middle-earth chronological information which was then newly adjusted from the Shire Calendar in accordance with The Return of the King, Appendix D (p.483, Ballantine Books edition).
This rarely seen (today) edition is a pristine copy and none to easily found. As of this writing, there was not another copy anywhere to be found on eBay, and those that do come up are almost never in this condition. It is worth more than I am asking for it, but it is a fair price to me considering what I have into it. A physical description follows...

*This is a brand new and unused calendar from 1977 in near perfect condition. It shows next to no wear at all. There is no writing on the calendar whatsoever. It is still very much a beautiful piece of artwork. I say nearly perfect because I am sure someone will find something wrong, but to me it is as good as the day I bought it. It has never been displayed and is still brand new! Enjoy...
